Each year we would buy packets and packets of Yusheng.

When we were in Penang, we bought fresh ones from Cold Storage (Gurney Plaza) and I tell you it was the yummiest Yusheng we've ever tasted!

Next Sunday hubby family will LOOOHEIIIIGo to fullsize image at my place (my turn to host breakfast next week) and we will be celebrating Azirul's birthday.....

Does anyone know where I can get a good one here???

yes. I am one cerewet person but my ex-colleague was the one who introduced me to it... we had a lohei at our office and they got a halal one. It was syioookkk. I would suggest that you get a fresh one. As for the salmon, yup its raw and I usually skip that... you could try smoked salmon if you want. Or you can try that japanese sotong... alamak dunno wats the name arrrr... try lah... sedapppp...

Yusheng is a Chinese-style raw fish salad. It usually consists of strips of raw fish (most commonly salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients. Literally translated, "yusheng" means "raw fish", though it can also be taken to symbolise abundance, prosperity and vigor.

Lo Hei" -- tossing yusheng -- is a Singaporean/Malaysian Chinese New Year custom for families and friends to gather around the table and, on cue, proceeding to toss the shredded ingredients into the air with chopsticks while saying (Jíxiáng Huà, auspicious wishes) out loud to mark the start of a prosperous new year.
